Visit to Paris 2006
On Friday night, the 17th of march 2006, PAMUR Kombinasi Tjimande Eindhoven left for the Judo Institute in Paris. It was the second time, since 2005. Our aim was a meeting between Eindhoven and Bordeaux and a common performance, during the festival "Best of the Best", organised by the French Association, AFPS. During this weekend we had a lot of fun.

The performance was planned on Saturday afternoon. Like we are used from the French Association in the years before, it was a big festival. The best twenty Pencak Silat fighters competed in diverse categories. In-between the games, seni demonstrations were planned, one of which was ours. We stayed at the Formule 1 hotel next-door. The last time we went was the year before, in 2005.

Our group appreciates very much the Indonesian character of this event. The chairman of the
AFPS
, Eric Chatelier, dedicates a lot of honour to the culture of Indonesia and to different original styles. A beautiful film was shown in which nature and culture of Indonesia were represented very well. We have never seen this in Holland.

Beladiri in Paris

Initially, Paatje Tönjes wanted to go home in the afternoon, immediately after our demonstration. But most of us liked the ambiance too much. It was so nice to meet each other again, being together and talk. At eight in the evening the peak of the day started: the performance of the Indonesian team. Like always, they had a great show.

After a communal visit to the kebab restaurant, we drove back to Holland, with a smile on our face...

Paris 2005
Our first visit to Paris was in 2005. This was such a big event, it is indescribable. Team Indonesia was in the house, and also lots of clubs from all over France. We were allowed to joined the Big Opening, where Sophie Ancel did her opening dance and Gijs and Alex showed a beladiri. Then it was the turn to the Indonesian Team that showed us a preview of the big show on the next evening. They brought their own musicians. They performed the revolution of Indonesia with all the parts of Indonesia being liberated. After this show we were very exiting but also very tired. And we went to sleep in the hotel.

The next morning we trained for our demonstration that same evening. It was possible, because some rooms in the Judo Institute were free. We had (Indonesian) lunch, which was very well arranged. Then one of the athletes of the Indonesian Team, who is also a PAMUR student, was teaching us to keep our PAMUR moves up to date. Below you see him teaching masal (name of a certain PAMUR move). In the meanwhile the olah raga games started.

Then hurry to dress for the performance. We were almost last, right before the Indonesian Team (a big honour). Our performance was partly with live music from the musician (beladiri) and partly (dance) music that we brought ourselves. Our group consisted of twelve people, from Bordeaux and Holland mixed. It was a great show.
The next day it wasn't finished yet. Because Sophie I had joined the Jurus Wajib Tunggal Game the day before. And she ended third. Not bad for the first time. On this event we met a lot of people. So we were having a great time.
